  • 1 kHz pump-probe system based on a amplified Ti:Sapphire system + NOPA
  • Pump wavelength: 480-700 nm, 1-2 μJ at the interface
  • Probe wavelength: 800 nm, total internal reflection geometry
  • Instrument response function: 0.5 ps (fwhm)
  • Detection multipixel photon counter avalanche photodiode detector + boxcar gated integrator and averager module

The left/top image shows the sample part of the setup.
The right/bottom image shows the experimental cell with the two immiscible liquids, the lower phase containing the absorbing molecules. The pump pulses come from the top at different time delays with respect to the probe pulses.
The measured SHG time profiles reflect the excited-state population dynamics of molecular probes located at the interface. Polarization-dependent measurements, allowing the determination of the molecules at the interface, can also be done.
