This set-up uses a cryo-amplifier (Wyvern, KMLabs) to generate 50 fs pulses at 800 nm and a repetition rate of 10-50 kHz. The amplifier pumps a TOPAS-White (Light Conversion) two-stage NOPA, to obtain 20 microJ pulses in the visible. Using Achromatic doubling we generate 100 nm bandwidth of UV probe continuum for 2D pump-probe spectroscopy. The UV probe (200 nm Vis) pulses are detected using dispersed single-shot detection at 20-50 kHz repetition rate with a double CMOS array detector (2*512 pixels). At the moment the probe light is partially compressed, resulting in a time resolution of < 100 fs.
The laser was designed for low-noise output. By pumping the amplifier with 3 pump lasers in parallel the pulse to pulse energy fluctuations are < 0.1% (measured RMS noise from a set of 10000 consecutive shots). This enables us to obtain very good S/N in pump-probe experiments, making it possible to carry out 2-D experiments in which the pump wavelength is scanned.
